We are looking for an experienced Paediatric Nurse with a background in Oncology and Haematology to join our team for 12 months. This offers you the chance to progress and enhance your skills within a supportive clinical environment.
The unit includes a 16-bed inpatient facility, 9-bed Day Care Unit, and a busy outpatient clinic. The multidisciplinary team features Bone Marrow Transplant, Apheresis, Paediatric Oncology Outreach, Late Effects, Haemophilia, and Non-Malignant Haematology Services.

Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Ward Manager, your responsibilities will include:
1. Take charge of the ward, allocate patients, and manage daily tasks.
2. Provide skilled nursing care to patients.
3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate seamless patient care.
4. Support and act as a role model to junior staff.
5. Help the Ward Manager manage the department, including maintaining clinical governance and resource management.
6. Deputise for the Ward Manager and represent them at meetings.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* Degree or Diploma Level Education as Registered Nurse (RN Child, RNLD or RSCN)
* Willingness to undertake speciality specific training
* Current registration with NMC
* Willingness to undertake study at degree level
* Relevant Post Basic registration Course
Experience
* Substantial staffing experience within paediatrics and evidence of competencies achieved
* Mentoring experience with nursing students and one-to one teaching of junior staff
* Ability to demonstrate a commitment to professional development
* Staffing experience within speciality
* Relevant project work
* Understanding of budgetary or resource management
Knowledge and Skills
* Role of Senior Staff Nurse and ability to work within and lead a team
* Understanding of the clinical governance agenda
* Experience of undertaking the audit process
* Health, Safety and Risk awareness
* Awareness of resource management
* Health & Safety Safe Practices e.g. Moving and Handling, Sharps, COSHH, Information Governance
* Responsibility for safe practices of Infection Control principles
* Principles of Safeguarding of children & training to Level 3
* Experience in Nursing Speciality of ward or department
* Able to demonstrate involvement and understanding of the Research process
* Current certificates to show relevant study and e-learning
