Housing Solicitor
Salary: £49,634 - £52,592 per annum plus excellent benefits
Location: Walsall, West Midlands
Contract: Full Time, Permanent 37 hours per week (minimum two days in the office)

We have an exciting opportunity in our Legal Team for an experienced Housing Solicitor to support and advise on housing-related matters, housing condition claims, and associated applications and claims.
The ideal candidate will have experience of legal case management relating to housing matters, e.g., tenancy breaches, anti-social behaviour, and housing condition claims.
Main job responsibilities:
* Work closely with Housing Litigation Manager, providing professional, accurate, and high-quality legal advice on housing matters across whg.
* Support wider teams with tenancy breaches, anti-social behaviour, and without notice injunctions.
* Work closely with the Insurance and Claim Team taking instructions on housing disrepair and statutory nuisance claims which involve court proceedings.
* Prepare high-quality documentation relating to claims, pleadings, witness statements, and correspondence.
* Attend and represent whg at court proceedings as required.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of court procedures, Civil Procedures Rules, Pre-action Protocols, and relevant case law.
* Ensure strong working relationships across other teams within whg and external stakeholders.
We're looking for someone who has:
* A law degree or other relevant professional qualification.
* Qualified Solicitor or FCILEX with between 1-3 years PQE, with experience of legal case management relating to housing condition claims, including drafting court applications, defences, witness statements, and knowledge of the associated Civil Procedure Rules and Pre-Action Protocols. Experience of attending, presenting, and advocacy in County Court hearings. A keen interest in social housing law would be advantageous.
* Experience of legal case management relating to a broader range of housing matters, e.g., tenancy breaches including anti-social behaviour, would be advantageous.
* Ability to work flexibly and assist in managing and prioritising a complex, high-profile, and demanding workload within a fast-paced team environment. Discretion, good judgement, and the ability to handle sensitive issues skilfully and confidentially is vital.
* Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to produce reports and deliver presentations and training. Ability to interpret legislation, regulation, and policy documents.
Experience with computerised case management systems would be preferable.
