Our client, a prominent organisation in the manufacturing sector, is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis located at Antelope Park, Southampton.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nCreate new and maintain existing 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks\nCollaborate closely with R&D engineers to ensure rapid response and hands-on support\nInvolved in assembly work including plastic moulding, PCBs, and metal work\nProduction of models using a bill of materials comprising 15 to 20 elements\nWork primarily in the Southampton office, ideally 4 and 1/2 days per week\nCommunicate effectively with team members and management to deliver design solutions\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nProficiency in SolidWorks is essential\nBTEC Level 3 or equivalent qualification\nExperience in mechanical design within the manufacturing sector\nUnderstanding of assembly processes including plastic moulding and PCBs\nStrong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail\nEffective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment\n\nAdditional Information:\n\nContract position, working 37.5 hours per week with a potential early finish on Fridays\nFace-to-face interview process with the R&D manager supported by HR\nRole falls inside IR35 regulations\nIf you are an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with essential skills in SolidWorks and a passion for working in the manufacturing industry, we would be delighted to hear from you.
