The shipping supervisor will provide direction, coaching, and technical expertise to the shipping department employees and support team. This includes building and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement. They will also actively manage their assigned team to safely deliver a quality product, on time, to meet customer demand. This position will have full responsibility for the labeling and shipping department in Durham. Expected Results and Accountabilities: Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, and 5S tools, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. Accomplishes manufacturing goals by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities. Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results thru the Lean Daily Management Process Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Ensures operation of all equipment Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing Continuous improvement change. Resolves personnel problems by investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action. Performs other related duties as required and assigned. Manage and approve employee timecards in Paycom Arrange outbound shipments and coordinate team to receive inbound shipments Prepare domestic and international DG paperwork for outbound air and ocean shipments Technical Skills/Experience/Background/Traits: Supervision and Coaching Process Improvement Daily and Visual Management Kaizen leadership/participation Technical problem solving Project Management Transportation of Dangerous Goods Shipping Document preparation Educational Preferences/Requirements: 3 Years of shipping/manufacturing leadership experience or similar Demonstrated success in leading a group of employees in accomplishing the goals for the area of responsibility Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be able to identify and correct non-conforming product packaging (for air, ground or sea) to comply with IPS, IATA, DOT, or IMD requirements as applicable Must be trained and certified to operate Forklift and any other materials handling equipment Preferred to have training / certification in all requirements for transportation of dangerous goods by mode (Air, Ground (Truck or Rail), or Sea Ability to read and interpret documents such as regulatory language, industry specific terms, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to understand and complete shipping documentation, write routine reports and correspondence and utilize computer systems effectively. Prior experience and willingness to be a very hands-on, working supervisor Ability to work a flexible schedule as production demand requires Able to adjust the process variables to maintain quality production, adjust to changes in workflow, and prioritize as needed, to meet deadlines Highly organized and excellent multi-tasker Strong leadership & problem-solving skills Fluently Bilingual, English/Spanish a plus Strong technical troubleshooting skills; technical background highly desired Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and have experience in warehouse management systems
