Head of Buying & Supply Chain
Location: Glasgow
Reports to: CEO
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Head of Buying & Supply Chain to join our team. This role will oversee and optimize the development of our product range, manage our supply chain operations, and work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and maintain high levels of service and product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supply Chain Strategy & Planning:
o Develop and execute a supplier sourcing strategy
o Support Merchandising in planning supplier production volumes
o Negotiate with suppliers to secure purchase order volumes and dates.
2. Commercial Range Development:
o Develop a product development strategy
o Guide the Buyer to create and manage a critical NPD process
o Analyze competitor set and market trends
o Develop a strategy for spare parts and price architecture
3. Supplier Management & Relationship Building:
o Manage and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers in China
o Conduct regular supplier visits, audits, and performance reviews
o Negotiate contracts, terms, and product pricing with suppliers
4. Logistics & Operations Coordination:
o Oversee logistics operations, including shipping and inventory management
o Coordinate with freight forwarders and logistics providers
5. Management of Technical Resource:
o Identify and address risks in the supply chain
o Ensure adherence to ethical standards and overall quality
o Manage the relationship with SEDEX for ethical and quality standards
6. Continuous Improvement:
o Drive initiatives to enhance the efficiency and flexibility of the supply chain
o Present regular supply chain performance reports to senior management
o Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications is a plus.
* Experience: 8-10 years in supply chain management, with at least 5 years focused on managing suppliers in China or other Asia-Pacific regions.
* Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Analytical mindset with experience in using data to drive decisions and improvements.
* Languages: Fluent in English, proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
