We are looking for a strong and experienced Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner to join the perioperative team as a Theatre Practitioner.
You will be a key member of our orthopaedic perioperative team, working within scrub and anaesthetics to ensure the highest standard of clinical care and safety for patients within the theatre department.
This role is for 37.5 hours per week, working 07:45 – 17:45 for 4 days between Monday and Saturday. Saturdays will be on average 1 per month.
Role Responsibilities
As Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner you will:
* Work with a variety of orthopaedic surgeons as a scrub practitioner, with the occasional need to work as an anaesthetic practitioner (once full training is given if required).
* Assess, plan, implement patient care and evaluate outcomes.
* Communicate effectively with other departments e.g. Sterile Services, Wards, Imaging Department to ensure effective and smooth-running patient care.
* Ensure that patients’ comfort, dignity, and privacy are always maintained.
* Ensure that your own practice and the practice of others is within an ethical and legal framework.
Person Specification
* Be a qualified and registered Practitioner (RN or ODP).
* Have post-registration experience working as an Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner.
* Be patient-oriented with a focus on continuous service improvement.
* Have evidence of continuous professional development and its application.
* Hold a Surgical First Assistant (SFA) Qualification.
* Experience of planning, coordinating and running the daily workload in a theatre suite, including the supervision of staff.
