Practice Manager - Mental Health and Wellness Team - North
* Reporting to a Team Manager, manage and professionally supervise qualified & support staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and legally compliant social care practice.
* Undertake the full legal range of social care assessments and develop person-led support plans that meet the needs of individuals.
* Manage a complex caseload.
* Maximise the independence and wellbeing of adults and older people in the Mental Health and Wellness Team.
* Work directly with adults and older people, ensuring that their personal liberty and safety are prioritized. Represent the Council at multi-agency meetings.
* Liaise with external and internal partners on day-to-day service issues and coordinate actions to support adults and older people.
* Utilize sensitivity, persuasion, negotiation, and assertiveness skills to communicate effectively with diverse audiences in emotive circumstances.
* Maintain good working relationships with other professionals while challenging decisions from other statutory agencies.
* Direct line management responsibilities.
* Act as a first line manager and team member.
* Manage a complex and varied caseload, including safeguarding roles and investigating complaints within a framework of policies and procedures.
* Expert in managing uncertainty, developing trustful relationships, making judgements about risk, and working creatively.
* Empower individuals to take considered risks while delivering a service that protects and safeguards vulnerable adults.
* Use initiative to address complex issues in an unpredictable work environment, potentially involving isolated working outside core hours.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of improvements in processes and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Significant post-qualifying social work experience in a Children & Families setting.
* Experience in highly complex casework within a statutory children's setting.
* Culturally sensitive service delivery experience responsive to a multi-cultural community.
* Experience in prioritization, care planning, and service delivery.
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience in assessing complex risk.
* Ability to interpret complex interactions between risk and protective factors to make informed decisions.
* High-level skills in gathering information from various sources, including direct observations.
* Make timely judgments based on thorough analysis of information gathered.
* Ability to create practical plans with clear timescales based on high-quality assessments.
* Systematically monitor and review decisions and plans, revising them as necessary.
* Knowledge of different intervention methods and their effectiveness based on critical research review.
* Evidence of managing complex cases with a high level of critical analysis.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
* ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications.
