Applications are invited for Clinical Fellow ST3+ level posts in Acute Medicine. This post will enable the postholder to gain registrar level clinical experience in acute medicine and offers learning opportunities through our dedicated Medical Education Team.
If you have an interest in Leadership and Management and would like to do a formal qualification there may be an opportunity to do this whilst undertaking this role. The Trust supports the Health, Economics, Leadership Management Programme (HELM) and is committed to supporting those Doctors who are keen to learn more about NHS Management.
The successful candidate will have a study leave allowance which includes up to 30 days leave and £500 funding per year. Although the posts are not formally recognised for training there will be the opportunity to attend the internal teaching programmes and you will be assigned an Educational Supervisor.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder under the direction of senior colleagues will undertake the below duties, these are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service.
* It is essential for candidates to hold full MRCP with PACES.
* Multidisciplinary team work is envisaged as a key component of the working of this Trust and will involve Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) discussion with other colleagues.
* Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care under the direction of senior clinical staff.
* To support and supervise junior colleagues as appropriate.
* Take a history and examine a patient.
* Identify and synthesize problems.
* Prescribe safely.
* Keep an accurate and relevant medical record.
* Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion, and be responsible for the describing of discharge medication.
* Manage time and clinical priorities effectively.
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues.
* Use evidence, guidelines and audit to benefit patient care.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will have a study leave allowance which includes up to 30 days leave and £500 funding per year. This post has not been approved for training by the Post Graduate Dean but will be given access to the same Trust level training as regional trainees, including a structured appraisal and assessment process, that will allow successful applicants to make the most use of available opportunities. The doctor will be encouraged to attend the weekly teaching, complete an e-portfolio and will be assigned an educational supervisor.

* NHS experience is essential.
* Clinical training/experience to a senior registrar level.
* Expertise in full range of General Medicinal conditions.
Qualifications
Essential
* Fully registered with the GMC with licence to practise.
* Minimum of 2 years experience within a specialty relevant to the role.
* MRCP (UK) with PACES or equivalent.
Knowledge
Essential
* Ability to teach clinical skills to trainees/undergraduates and multi disciplinary teams.
* Flexible approach and ability to lead project teams.
* Intermediate level IT skills.
