Job Description:
Position Summary
Main job functions include accountability for the quality and completion of planned preventative maintenance routines, fault diagnosis, breakdown repairs, and installation work with industrial mechanical systems.
Assist the team leader in completing administrative and safety tasks related to engineering maintenance.
Principle Accountabilities
Health and Safety
1. Work in accordance with safe systems of work, procedures, and statutory regulations.
2. Ensure knowledge of mechanical regulations and guidelines is kept up to date.
3. Maintain a good standard of housekeeping and ensure the correct use of PPE for required activities and areas.
4. Participate in safety inspections and risk assessments for maintenance activities and use of equipment.
5. Partake in training courses required by the business/statutory bodies to fulfill all duties and key tasks of the role.
6. Report incidents and incident hazards.
7. Perform and confirm isolations and lock-offs of dangerous machinery in accordance with site procedures (LOTO Systems).
8. Issue Permits to Work, once trained, and control activities according to company/legal requirements and procedures.
9. Participate in safety improvement activities designed to improve the safety performance of the business/department.
10. Carry out job requirements in full compliance with the Code of Conduct.
11. Support and demonstrate the '4 Values' and associated 'behaviours' in carrying out duties and responsibilities.
12. Follow safety requirements in relation to the role.
Quality
1. Maintain timely and accurate records of work activities on SAP, job cards, work permits, MS teams, and any other methods prescribed.
2. Actively use CMMS (SAP) system to record time taken/spares used from work orders.
3. Generate and communicate ideas/suggestions to improve maintenance service and drive continuous improvement.
4. Participate in internal/external audits as required to improve quality performance against defined targets.
People
1. Understand the needs and expectations of the customer and your role in achieving departmental and business objectives.
2. Clearly understand your role and responsibilities within the shift team and collaborate with all team members.
3. Communicate clearly and professionally – provide feedback through supervision.

Training
1. Engage in training and development activities provided by the company.
2. Carry out induction and training of new team members.
3. Provide training for process operators in on-line maintenance activities.
4. Act as a mentor to apprentices and improve mechanical engineering standards within the team.
5. Highlight any area in which training and development is required.
Operational Duties
1. Ensure continuity of maintenance support for manufacturing via effective, documented shift handovers with maintenance and manufacturing colleagues.
2. Contribute to the achievement of defined KPIs PPM schedule adherence and equipment availability.
3. Plan your workload, be organized in the workplace, complete tasks promptly, and know the next task.
4. Perform planned preventative maintenance activities to meet agreed schedules.
5. Carry out breakdown repairs to minimize unplanned process downtime and maximize plant availability.
6. Inspect mechanical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
7. Diagnose faults using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and take corrective measures.
8. Carry out installation, modifications, and decommissioning tasks as required.
9. Test mechanical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment using testing equipment.
10. Use a variety of tools and equipment such as access and lifting equipment, power tools, measuring and testing equipment.
11. Operate site service equipment such as boilers and compressors.
12. Record spare parts usage from engineering stores.
13. Communicate maintenance issues to users/owners of equipment.
Qualifications
Experience Required
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a maintenance/industrial environment.
Knowledge Required
Knowledge of a wide range of industrial plant and machinery including mechanical/pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
Qualifications / Skills Required
Apprentice trained technician with City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate or equivalent in Mechanical discipline. Good verbal and written communication skills.
