An exciting opportunity to join the Orthogeriatric team working across Medicine and Trauma and Orthopaedics on the Silver Trauma Unit at the BRI with the opportunity to work at Weston General Hospital. The successful applicant will work with the Orthogeriatric team and be predominantly responsible for providing care for elderly trauma (over 75 years) and hip fracture patients (all ages) on the Trauma and Orthopaedic (T& O) wards and supporting the Bone Health for Older People (BHOP) Clinic.
Main duties of the job
The Specialty Doctor post available is detailed below and will be available to start from February 2025.
Core: The post holder will be responsible for the continuity of patient care for patients being treated on the Silver Trauma Unit at the BRI. The post holder will work with the Orthogeriatric team and be predominately responsible for providing care for elderly trauma (over 75 years) and hip fracture patients (all ages) on the T& O wards.
Clinical Management: The post holder is expected to take a full role in the delivery of the Trust wide agenda for Governance. The Trust believes in an open learning environment with clear risk management strategy that allows innovation and improvement in care whilst placing patient safety at the centre of our values. The post holder will take an active part in the department/specialty strategy.

* Full registration with General Medical Council (GMC)
* Minimum of six years full time post graduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time basis)
* ST3 and above
* MB ChB or equivalent
* Special interest in a subspecialty of orthogeriatric
* MRCP membership qualification

* MD/PHD in relevant specialty

* Minimum of six years full time post graduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme
