Due to maternity leave within the Acute Tissue Viability Service, we have an exciting opportunity for a band 7 Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse to join us on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will work as lead for the Acute Tissue Viability team providing highly developed wound care advice and assessment, leadership, leading on education, developing practice, and undertaking audit and research, primarily supporting Patient Safety and Pressure Ulcer prevention. This post would be suitable for secondment or fixed term and would run until December 2025.
An understanding of the pressure ulcer prevention agenda and National Wound Care Strategy, together with a passion for wound care and experience in developing and delivering educational packages, would be advantageous. Experience as a Tissue Viability Nurse and a recognized qualification in wound care would be beneficial along with leadership experience, skill, and knowledge.
The post holder will be required to cover the service across the CDDFT region. Informal discussions are advised.

Main duties of the job
The Tissue Viability service is a nurse-led expert advisory service, providing specialist evidence-based advice and education on complex and non-healing wounds. We provide advice to patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals.
To provide and support the Tissue Viability Specialist in the provision of Tissue Viability Service. As a member of the Tissue Viability Team, assist in the development of a quality, proactive, evidence-based tissue viability service.
Within the focus of Tissue Viability, the post holder will:
1. Participate in the development of nursing practice within Tissue Viability and contribute to the body of nursing knowledge.
2. Take a lead role facilitating the planning and evaluation of care for a designated group of patients.
3. Provide specialized education and training incorporating best practice, national and local recommendations in relation to wound care.
4. Support CDDFT in validating Pressure Ulcer prevalence.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield, and Weardale as well as over 80 other community-based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

* Post-registration experience in a clinical setting.

* Good working knowledge of tissue viability in an acute hospital setting as well as a community setting.
* Experience with topical negative pressure, wound debridement, larvae therapy, and complex wound management.
* Administrative and IT skills.
* Experience as a Tissue Viability nurse or working in depth with wound care.
Statutory Registration
* Registered General Nurse Level 1 with valid current NMC registration.
