We are looking for a competent and professional Ward Clerk on the Endoscopy Unit at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. This is a permanent position, working 24.5 hours per week. The post-holder will be expected to work some weekends on a rota basis.
As Ward Clerk, you will act as the focal point for the Endoscopy Unit with confidentiality being the key issue at all times. You will provide a high standard of administration support to the Ward Manager and their team, interacting with other departments, patients, and their visitors.
You should be educated to GCSE English Language (minimum C Grade) standard, be computer literate, and preferably have an NVQ in Administration / Customer Care and/or have equivalent experience, preferably with a medical administration background.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, as well as a positive approach to working in a team. We are looking for someone with a pleasant, adaptable disposition who can remain calm under pressure and deal with a busy workload efficiently and effectively.
Main duties of the job
Administration
* Undertake general clerical duties including completing records, filing, photocopying, handling mail, and filing in case notes.
* Greet outpatients on arrival.
* Input and extract details/information from the computerised patient administration system (PAS), ensuring all patient episodes, admissions, transfers, and discharge are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
* Utilise the Endoscopy reporting System to input details.
* Ensure Endoscopy reports are digitally sent to GP's daily.
* Complete patient discharges, filing all relevant case notes and forward them to the coding department.
