This could be a job for you, as a vacancy has arisen for a flexible Mobile Cook on a 37.5-hour contract to join Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust based throughout Hull and East Riding. We are looking for staff who are enthusiastic, motivated and have good interpersonal and communication skills to work as part of our teams.
The post will involve cooking and serving lunches and evening meals for our Inpatient Units, as well as assisting in maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for patients, trust staff, and visitors in line with the National Standards for Healthcare Food and Drink.
The post holder will be required to be flexible and work as part of a team over a 7-day period (including weekends) on an as and when required basis in the provision of a high-quality, cost-effective cooking service in accordance with statutory legislation and Trust Policies regarding Health & Safety and Hygiene.
The post holder will need to be able to commute effectively across Trust sites and the geographical area.
Main duties of the job

* Preparing food
* Using kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens
* Placing orders for provisions
* Stock rotation
* Training and support to other cooks
As a cook, you will prepare meals and follow establishment recipes. Duties include preparing ingredients, adhering to the menu, and following food health and safety procedures. Cook, clean, assist other cooks and staff and deliver food in a fast-paced environment.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Foundation certificate in food hygiene level 2
* Knowledge of procedures to NVQ 3 or equivalent, relevant certification or equivalent experience, skills and knowledge
* Understand current Food Safety Legislation
* Knowledge of HACCP and COSHH
* Demonstration of further qualification interests
* Full knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment.
Experience
* Working knowledge of ordering and Stock Control
* Experience of the cook freeze system or prime cooking
* Menu planning
* Experience of working in Mental Health services and care homes
Skills and Competencies
* Team player as well as being able to work on your own
* High standard of personal hygiene
* Confident, adaptable, and flexible in approach to working practices
* Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems
* Ability to work under pressure and be able to prioritise/meet deadlines.
