Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA) is an operational division of the Scottish Government making decisions on behalf of and reporting to Scottish Ministers on a range of planning and environmental casework. This includes high profile renewable energy projects contributing to Scotland’s climate targets; major infrastructure proposals and large-scale housing developments. We are going through a period of exciting change and this role will prove opportunities to make a significant contribution to deliver the key priorities of the DPEA. This is an opportunity to work in a small, friendly team as an IT Support and Appeal Fees Officer. Responsibilities Provide first contact support to staff including home-based reporters, casework staff and members of the public on IT related issues. Ability to research, investigate, work on own initiative and as part of a team to resolve issues. Provide support to team IT projects to enhance IT systems such as documenting discussions at meetings and assisting in developing training and guidance for the division for the case management system. Responsible for organising and running of virtual meetings, for both internal and external events. Provide support to staff and members of the public on IT related issues, including maintaining user accounts for DPEA systems, updating user guidance and raising faults with our support partners if required. Contribute to continuous improvement across the Division by assisting with project work. From June 2025, process and reconcile appeal fees received as part of planning process. Provide support to our customers when making appeal fee payments, ensuring that all payment records are maintained and up to date and assisting in the investigating of any issues, should they occur. As required, carry out other finance duties to meet business needs within DPEA, such as billing/invoicing, the purchase of equipment, car hires and raising purchase orders. As one of two Deputy Budget Centre Liaison Officers (BCLOs) provide financial support to the BCLO and DPEA staff in matters relating to the monthly monitoring of budgets and spend, process requests for goods, services and works by acting as a preparer in Oracle and reconcile invoices. Provide cover for essential tasks within the team during periods of increased work or absences. Our standard hours are 35 hours per week, we offer a range of flexible and hybrid working options depending on the needs of the role.
