About the Agency:
The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. About the job: In this role, the incumbent will provide fiscal support by performing accounts payable and processing the residents funds for the business office at the Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center. The Fiscal Technician will support the Business Operations Manager for agency procurement efforts and assists in agency physical inventory or fixed assets and supplies.
Core responsibilities include and are not limited to: periodically reviews, controls, and reports expenditures to remain within budgeted allocations; ensures that all funds (state, federal, grant, etc.) are expended appropriately and within permissible parameters; processes vendor invoices for payment by matching the vendor invoices with corresponding requisitions, purchase orders and receiving reports and maintains outstanding requisition/purchase order files, and ensures all procurement documents are maintained in an auditable condition.
Minimum Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of procurement practices and procedures. Proficient knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel to create spreadsheets. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply financial policies and procedures; Ability to provide administrative support, Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service while performing multiple tasks simultaneously, Ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet deadlines; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to interpret and apply policy, rules, and regulations; ability to reconcile internal fiscal records to external systems.
Additional Considerations
Considerable experience in business office fiscal duties. Experience working with the public and proficient expertise in PC operation desired. Experience performing data entry into automated financial systems, and computerized asset tracking applications. Performed data entry through Cardinal.
