Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) – 1:1 Support Moston, M40 Primary School Support 5 Days a week Mon - Fri A Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) is required to provide 1:1 support for a non-verbal pupil in Year 2 in our primary school. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child's life, helping them to access learning, develop communication skills, and feel safe and supported in their school environment. Key Responsibilities Provide tailored support to the pupil in line with their individual learning plan. Use a range of communication strategies (such as PECs, Makaton, or AAC devices) to aid understanding and expression. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning activities. Foster a nurturing and structured environment to support emotional and social development. Liaise with external professionals and carers to ensure consistency in care and education. Support transitions throughout the school day, helping the pupil to feel secure and engaged. About You We are looking for someone who is: Experienced in working with children with SEN, particularly those with communication difficulties. Knowledgeable in alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS, AAC). Empathetic, patient, and skilled in building trust with vulnerable children. A team player with excellent communication skills to collaborate with teachers, carers, and external agencies. Understanding of trauma-informed approaches to support looked after children.
