Teaching Assistant Role & Responsibilities
Supporting Learning & Development
As a Teaching Assistant you will work closely with teachers and SEN specialists to deliver tailored lessons
As a Teaching Assistant you will provide one-to-one and small group support for students with diverse needs
Teaching Assistants adapt learning materials to suit individual education plans (IEPs)Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support
Assist students with autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, and speech & language needs
Implement therapeutic and communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory-based learning
Encourage students to develop independence and confidence in their learningEmotional & Behavioural Support
Support students with challenging behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques
Help regulate emotions through structured routines and calming strategies
Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environmentGeneral Teaching Assistant Duties
Assist with classroom preparation, organisation, and resource management
Supervise students during break times, outings, and extracurricular activities
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and SENCOs to ensure student progress
Who We're Looking For
A Teaching Assistant passionate about SEN and student development
Patient, nurturing, and able to build strong relationships with students
Experience working in SEN schools or supporting children with additional needs (preferred but not essential)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to undertake specialist SEN training
Relevant qualifications in childcare, education, or SEN (desirable but not required)
