Job Description
A Project Manager / Renewable Energy Delivery Lead Consultant with experience working in renewables and delivering consultancy services within the energy sector is required for a number of larger scale renewable energy projects within our team at West Mercia Energy.
SALARY: Starting at £52,616 per annum + Benefits, including Profit Related Bonus
LOCATION: Hybrid and Remote Working Available
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, 12 Month Fixed Term Contract. We will also consider Part-Time for the right candidate
Job Overview
This position will involve leading the development and delivery of strategic renewable asset business cases for the benefit of West Mercia Energy and its Member Authorities in support of net zero carbon targets. This will be a diverse and challenging role that requires a combination of technical, managerial, and communication skills, as well as a passion for renewable energy. You will work closely with stakeholders, colleagues, and external partners to drive project success and contribute to the growth of our renewable energy portfolio.
Duties
Your duties as the Project Manager / Renewable Energy Delivery Lead Consultant include:
1. Lead on the development of business cases for renewable energy generation projects.
2. Liaise with relevant district network operators to inform West Mercia Energy and its Member Authorities of opportunities.
3. Work closely with Member Authorities to understand ongoing projects.
4. Ensure the completion of feasibility studies to identify suitable sites and technologies for renewable energy projects.
5. Liaise and collaborate with various stakeholders, such as landowners, developers, contractors, engineers, consultants, energy suppliers, network operators, and community groups to determine appropriate opportunities within the infrastructure landscape.
6. Ensure the preparation and submission of planning applications, permits, and contracts to secure necessary approvals and funding for projects.
7. Actively seek out funding opportunities to support the transition to renewable energy sources and infrastructure connections to the grid.
8. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
9. Identify and mitigate project risks where possible.
10. Monitor and evaluate the performance, efficiency, and environmental impact of projects.
11. Work extensively with the Managing Director in developing the strategic direction of West Mercia Energy in relation to supporting Member Authorities and customers with their net zero carbon targets.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
1. Experience of working in the renewable energy sector.
2. Experience of delivering consultancy services within the energy sector with a commitment to problem-solving in a collaborative way.
3. Strong project management skills.
4. Strong problem-solving, mathematical, financial modeling, and organizational skills.
5. Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.
6. Commercial knowledge to capture and analyze market data to identify new opportunities.
Desirable:
1. Renewable energy experience across solar, wind, and other technologies including project development experience, project finance, corporate power purchase agreements.
2. Experience of the public sector.
3. Experience of public sector procurement.
