Taylor Woodrow is the sole provider of Lot 3 - Western Geotechnical Off-Track and Drainage - as part of Network Rail Wales and Western region’s £2bn programme of works.
The Lot stretches from London Paddington to Penzance and involves the ongoing maintenance & renewals programme of civil engineering assets such as embankments, cuttings, scour protection, and earthworks drainage.
The successful applicant will be part of the development & pre-construction team, inputting into buildability, commercial feasibility and long-term planning, so experience within optioneering of projects and/or early contractor involvement would be advantageous. The applicant should expect to be office based in Bristol and occasionally travel to remote locations in order to review site conditions.
Duties
* Identifying constraints to the design & construction of schemes, both through desk based work and site visits and proposing appropriate mitigation
* Input into buildability reviews of proposed designs
* Working with specialists to understand ecological, historical and legislative constraints of schemes
* Identifying and liaising with stakeholders and land agents throughout project development to gain third-party approvals
* Input into proposed works methodologies and temporary works, liaising with specialist suppliers
* Input into pricing & estimating for schemes
* Input into long-term planning of a workbank of schemes
* Identifying methods to utilise existing GIS, survey and client technology systems to aid pre-construction.
* Working with the client to ensure development costs are monitored against a fixed budget
Person Specification
* Civil Engineering Degree
* ICE Graduate, Incorporated or Chartered Member
* Experience in the Engineering/Construction Sector
* CSCS Card – Academically qualified person
