Job Introduction
In Spring 2025, Brighton & Hove City Council will open a new Residential Home for children with disabilities called Rainbow Lodge.
We are excited to offer the opportunity for you to work within this new setting. Shortlisting and interviews happen on a frequent basis, so please submit applications as soon as possible. This advert may be withdrawn if the vacancies are filled.
Do you enjoy working with children and young people with a range of disabilities? Do you want to make a difference in young people’s lives and support them to meet their full potential? If so, we want to hear from you!
Our Children’s Residential Care Workers care for up to 5 children with complex disabilities who live at Rainbow Lodge. You will be involved in every aspect of the young people’s care, working in partnership with their parents/carers, local special schools, social workers, and health colleagues to ensure the best care.
Due to the complexity of the young people’s disabilities, the work can be challenging but also very rewarding. Do you have the resilience to work with children who have challenging behaviors or complex health needs? Can you be flexible with your working hours, including weekends and overnight shifts?
As a worker at Rainbow Lodge, you will be part of the Specialist Community Disability Service 0 – 24, working alongside social workers and resource officers to provide support to children with disabilities and their families.
Children’s Residential Care Workers will be involved in the day-to-day care of children with disabilities, including personal care, promoting health, education, and relationships with family and friends. You will ensure their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social needs are met while providing opportunities for play, leisure, and learning.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are committed to providing excellent care and support to help children meet their full potential, enjoy being part of a team, and have experience working with disabled children with complex needs.
Please read our Apply for a job at the council pages carefully for guidance on completing your application and information on what will happen after submission.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
