Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Childrens Residential Support Worker (Waking Night) to join our in-house team in Southwark. You will be part of a committed service providing overnight care and support to children and young people with emotional, behavioural, and complex needs, including learning disabilities.

Pay - £20 per hour
Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality, person-centred care in line with individual support plans.
* Ensure a safe and nurturing environment that supports the emotional and physical well-being of children and young people.
* Carry out domestic duties during the night, including light cleaning, food preparation, and general household tasks.
* Safely store, administer, and record medication in accordance with the service's medication policy.
* Support with personal care, behaviour management, and crisis interventions when necessary.
* Maintain up-to-date records, including care plans, daily logs, and handover notes.
* Assist with planning and implementing tailored activities, goals, and support strategies.
* Attend external settings when required (e.g., hospital, police station).
* Participate in regular supervisions, training, and development activities.
* Adhere to health and safety procedures and safeguarding policies at all times.
* Assist in the development and implementation of individual care plans tailored to each child's needs.
* Communicate effectively with children, families, and other professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to care.
* Drive to various locations as required for activities or appointments, ensuring safe transportation.
* Maintain accurate records of progress and any incidents that may occur during support sessions.
* Engage children in activities that promote learning and development, fostering a positive atmosphere.
* Monitor the well-being of children, addressing any concerns promptly and appropriately.
Experience
* Has previous experience working with children or young people in a residential or care setting (desirable).
* Demonstrates empathy, patience, and resilience in challenging situations.
* Has a good understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and child development.
* Is a strong team player with excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
* Is committed to delivering high standards of care in line with Southwarks values and regulatory requirements.
* Is flexible and willing to work waking night shifts on a rota basis.
* Previous experience working with children in a childcare or support role is essential.
* Familiarity with IT systems for record-keeping and communication purposes is advantageous.
* Strong communication skills are crucial for interacting with children, families, and colleagues effectively.
* Experience in developing or implementing care plans will be beneficial for this role.

* You should have an in-year Enhanced DBS (children's)
* You should be able to do waking nights.
