The Specialist Education Teams at University Hospitals Birmingham are hiring! We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and clinically competent practitioners to join the team. The post holder will work in collaboration with healthcare colleagues and educators to ensure the clinical education and development needs of the Non-Medical Practitioner workforce are identified and addressed using approved, proven and credible methods. They will be a visible role model, providing clinical support and practical guidance to clinical teams and departments as well as providing pastoral support for staff when required. All applicants should have a genuine interest in the education and development of staff across the Specialities whilst also ensuring their own clinical credibility through continuing professional development. Knowledge, qualifications and/or experience in Cardiac and Stroke care would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job
The post holder must be able to:
1. Co-ordinate and deliver high-quality education using lectures, simulation, study days and shop-floor teaching to upskill the workforce across specialities and CDGs. The post holder will be required to provide pastoral support to staff.
2. Communicate effectively, work well within a team and be able to use their initiative to make decisions.
3. Ensure consistently high standards of care are being met in clinical areas.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* *NMC Registered Nurse/ Midwife or HCPC Registered Allied Health Care Professional.
* *Post Graduate Diploma/ Certificate in Education or equivalent qualification or willingness to undertake.
* *Evidence of continuous ongoing professional development in relation to the role applied for.
* *Master's Degree or willingness to complete level 7 award.
Experience
* *Demonstrable experience/ knowledge relevant to the role underpinned by theory and clinical practice or education gained from working in health and care practice settings applicable to the role.
* *Demonstrable knowledge of education and practice development associated with registered and unregistered health care professionals.
* *Experience in the supervision / assessment of learners / junior staff with evidence of completion of training in relation to mentoring/ assessment in clinical practice.
* *Passion for teaching, education, training, and pastoral care.
* *Demonstrable understanding and evidence of experience in practice-based supervision and assessment.
* *Has experience in determining decisions relating to clinical competence and fitness to practice.
* *Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues relevant to the role.
* *Can relate the principles of Safeguarding to the role.
* *Knowledge of / experience in use of Quality Improvement methodology / tools.
* *Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices.
* *Experience of assessment and assignment marking and giving feedback.
* *Ability to deliver teaching packs/programmes to promote a learning environment.
* *Experience in research and audit.
Additional Criteria
* *Ability to work in a variety of clinical settings with direct patient contact, including manual handling.
* *Ability to work a flexible shift pattern, according to service need and work across a range of practice settings associated with the organisation including working on all sites/ premises in accordance with the needs of the service / organisation.
