Head of Quality
Location: Birmingham Business Park - Hybrid - Office based 3-4 days a week
Salary: £65k - £70k (depending on experience) plus benefits
Purpose:
BCA Logistics is looking to appoint a Head of Quality with a focus to support growth by delivering exceptional quality. You will review existing procedures to ensure they meet company requirements, where necessary assisting in the development and implementation of new standards, procedures and specifications. Monitor performance, compliance and feedback across the business. Deliver BCAs objectives through existing and new products using innovative methods to deliver best in class quality and service within the budget framework. Consistently driving operational excellence and adherence to best practice.
Key Accountabilities:
Leadership:
Lead a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence, aligned with BCA values and behaviours.
Oversee and design market-leading inspection training programmes.
Optimise costs with a sharp commercial focus, enhancing audit quality and implementing effective remedial actions.
Drive productivity, efficiency, and standardisation across the Audit, Quality Compliance, and Health and Safety teams.
Manage inspection quality and operational compliance.
Utilise new technology and techniques to develop operational excellence and drive value.
Implement controlled, measured changes to enhance the operating model and deliver exceptional quality.
Foster strong relationships with customers and stakeholders across the business.
Support strategic business projects and change programmes as a subject matter expert.
Address customer complaints in line with SLAs, providing feedback to the business.
Reduce accidents, insurance, and claims costs.
Ensure driver compliance with fuel usage and travel cost policies, managing the cost base effectively.
Review and improve the inspection process according to market changes.
Own ISO 45001 and collaborate on ISO 9001 & 14001 initiatives.
Governance, Risk, and Controls:
Ensure Health & Safety procedures and reporting meet the highest standards.
Embed a culture of risk mitigation and governance throughout all processes.
Maintain audit systems and reconciliation, including Health & Safety.
Consistently deliver high-quality vehicle inspection services.
Conduct regular audits of services and operations to protect BCA’s reputation and liability.
Evaluate vehicle flows, facilities usage, and resource allocation for efficiency.
Install best practice procedures from across the network.
Stakeholder Management:
Enable close cooperation across all divisions, addressing impediments as they arise.
People/Financial/Other:
Maximise process efficiency while managing controllable costs.

Engage stakeholders to embrace change.
Lead and coach the team in performance management, culture succession planning, and safe working practices.
Forecast and manage resource levels effectively.

Extensive experience in the automotive industry.
Experience in significant production operations.
Technical knowledge of the valet industry.
In-depth understanding of the BVRLA fair wear and tear guide.
Operational refurbishment and mechanical understanding in a used car environment.
