About the Job:
The post holder will work as a practitioner, assisting in providing nursing services to meet the needs of the practice population. This includes treatment room work, health promotion, sexual health services, immunisation programmes, and management of long-term conditions within a defined role. They will be responsible for raising awareness of health and social wellbeing, enabling people to improve their own health, and working collaboratively to improve the health of the practice population. They will be part of a multidisciplinary team of nurses, GPs, and other health professionals and admin staff.
The role involves creating a welcoming, non-judgmental environment that respects patients' circumstances, feelings, and rights. The post holder will work within the NHS England's 6Cs of Care: Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage, and Commitment.
Role responsibilities:
* Undertake treatment room duties, manage long-term conditions, and participate in screening, immunisation, and sexual health programmes within their competency and training.
* Ensure accurate documentation of all patient healthcare interactions.
* Perform home visits where appropriate.
* Review and act on sample results or refer to a senior clinician when needed.
* Provide nursing treatments in collaboration with GPs or independently, following protocols.
* Support team development to ensure high standards of nursing care.
* Adhere to policies on health and safety, equality, diversity, and confidentiality.
* Assist in stock management as delegated.
* Participate in recall activities for patients with long-term conditions, immunisations, and screenings, within their scope of practice.
* Support the education and training of new nurses and healthcare assistants.
* Follow infection control standards and best practices, ensuring procedures are followed.
* Identify and report health and safety hazards.
* Ensure the safe use of diagnostic and treatment equipment and alert the team to quality or risk issues.
* Attend practice meetings and maintain competency through ongoing development.
* Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and external agencies, respecting confidentiality.
* Manage own workload and resources efficiently.
Professional Development:
The post holder is accountable for their professional actions, supported by senior staff, and must work in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct. They are responsible for their own professional development, including attendance at relevant courses and maintaining records for revalidation. They should participate in annual performance reviews and provide evidence of personal and professional growth.
