Applications are invited for the post of Speciality Doctor, Trauma and Orthopaedics at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Elective Surgery across both Winchester and Basingstoke sites with Trauma all on the Basingstoke site. The post is available for 6-12 months with a possible extension up to 18 months. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and innovative trauma and orthopaedic team with active research and clinical interests.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties will include those normally expected in the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department of any large acute District General Hospital in the United Kingdom. The post holder will be required to undertake administrative and managerial duties and exert leadership as necessary to fulfil this responsibility. The successful candidate will be given exposure to a wide variety of elective and trauma surgery patients and will have the opportunity to undertake independent clinics and operating lists where appropriate competencies are met.

Person Specification
Training & Qualification
* Full GMC registration with a Licence to practice
* MRCS or equivalent
* ATLS
Clinical Experience & Knowledge
* Previous Experience in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery
* Able to demonstrate managing first on call
Clinical Skills & Ability
* Working towards independent Fracture Clinic patient management
* Primary operating surgeon for Basic Trauma Procedures and some elective surgery
Research & Teaching
* Previous experience in teaching junior staff
* Experience in research and audit with appropriate publications within the past 5 years

Salary: £61,825 to £70,425 a year (MT04/MT05 dependant on experience)
