We are looking to recruit a temporary qualified and registered Rehabilitation Engineer (Clinical Technologist / Clinical Scientist) to join the Rehabilitation Engineer Service numbering around 25 staff which is based in Birmingham, but operates across the West Midlands supporting the 12 local wheelchair services. In this instance the Rehabilitation Engineers will be based in Birmingham Wheelchair Service. The role is to cover maternity leave and part time working would be considered.
Main duties of the job
We require a qualified healthcare science practitioner (clinical technologist) to undertake assessment of postural and mobility needs for service users of Birmingham Wheelchair Service.
Create innovative and safe solutions to meet the assessed clinical needs of wheelchair users. These solutions will take into account relevant legislation and follow our ISO13485:2016 QMS.
As part of a Rehabilitation Engineering Team of over 25 staff, you will participate in an active CPD and Clinical Supervision programme.

Person Specification
Qualifications / training
* Degree in Science related subject or equivalent.
Experience
* The ability to work within an ISO13485 Quality System.
* Significant experience working with wheelchairs and/or seating.
Skills/knowledge
* Good Communication Skills. Ability to express themselves clearly both orally and in writing.
* Ability to analyse simple biomechanical problems.
* Ability to analyse simple engineering problems.
* Knowledge of Wheelchairs and Seating.
* Registration RCT or HCPC.
* Ability to relate to people with disabilities and show empathy.
* Highly self-motivated.
* Very flexible.
* Work with minimal supervision.
