The Wirral University Teaching Hospital requires volunteers to support a multitude of functions across our sites. You may be deployed in any area of the hospital, according to demand.
From providing important administrational support or conducting patient and family surveys to gather valuable feedback, to being a friendly and welcoming face for our patients as a welcomer, or supporting our many different clinical areas, volunteers play a crucial and important role within the Hospital and are valued and key members of our workforce.

All required training is provided prior to starting any placement, with sector specific training delivered once you have started, and ongoing renewal.

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is situated on The Wirral peninsula which has a stunning coastline and beautiful countryside surroundings, with great activities for its residents.
We are one of the largest and busiest acute Trusts in the North West of England, comprising of the Wirral’s only Emergency Department. We provide a high quality range of acute care services and employ over 6,000 staff, who serve a population of approximately 400,000 people across Wirral, Ellesmere Port, Neston, North Wales and the wider North West footprint.
We have approximately 855 beds trust-wide and our financial turnover is in excess of £337m.
The Wirral is easily accessible with excellent transport links including motorway, train, bus or ferry and within easy reach to the major cities of Liverpool, Chester and Manchester as well as neighbouring North Wales.
You are applying for a general volunteer placement which will be allocated on appointment according to Trust need and volunteer suitability. The Trust has a variety of volunteer placements as described in the attached Job Description document and these will be discussed at the interview stage, when you can state a preference. We endeavour to match your personal skills and experience to a suitable role. You could also be deployed in a different role to support the Trust in adverse circumstances.
All placements will be made as soon as possible after mandatory training has been completed.
