We are seeking a highly experienced Software Test Manager to lead, coordinate, and oversee a testing team comprising both onshore and offshore members. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end testing activities across all projects, ensuring high-quality software delivery, and fostering a collaborative and productive environment across multiple time zones. Driving continuous improvement through metrics and data-driven decisions.
Job Title: Software Test Manager
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 depending on experience + 10% Discretionary Bonus
The Software Test Manager will collaborate closely with development, project delivery, and product teams to create comprehensive testing strategies, improve QA processes, and ensure that all software releases meet stringent quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and mentor a team of software testers, both onshore and offshore, providing guidance and support to ensure consistent, high-quality performance.
* Manage team workload and distribute tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
* Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to foster team development.
* Define the direction of software test through continuous improvement, both Process and Tooling.
* Identify risks related to quality and delivery timelines, and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
Test Planning Execution:
* Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases for various software projects, using a metric based approach.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to define testing requirements, priorities, and objectives.
* Utilise tools and frameworks to streamline the testing process and improve test coverage and efficiency.
* Oversee the execution of manual and automated tests across different platforms (web and mobile).
* Track, analyse, and report test results, metrics, and defects to IT stakeholders.
Process Improvement:
* Continuously improve the testing process by implementing industry best practices, tools, and technologies.
* Promote automation in testing, and work towards increasing the scope and efficiency of automated test scripts.
Qualifications Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in Information Technology or a related field; or equivalent experience.
* ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) Certification, ideally CTAL-TM, or CSTM (Certified Software Test Manager) is mandatory.
* Minimum of 7+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 3 years in a leadership/managerial role managing both onshore and offshore teams.
* Proven experience in managing test automation and manual testing teams.
Technical Skills:
* Hands-on experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, etc.).
* Proficiency with test management tools (JIRA, TestRail) and defect tracking systems.
* Familiarity with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines.
* Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies and STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle).
Preferred Experience:
* Experience with cloud-based testing environments and performance testing tools.
* Exposure to mobile application testing and security testing frameworks.
