Our Financial Services teams are at the forefront of this mission The Operations team is all about keeping things running smoothly, managing our pension, investment, and protection products from the moment a customer signs up through to policy maturity. Our Financial Advisors love getting to know our customers, helping them find the right life insurance, pension, investment, and wealth management products that fit their needs. And our Governance and Risk team is here to make sure everything runs efficiently and safely, implementing smart processes and keeping us on track with regulatory guidelines. As a graduate, you’ll find yourself in the thick of our Financial Services action. The three-year scheme will see you rotate through each of our teams, gaining valuable insight and hands-on experience. These rotations will help you develop a diverse skillset while also giving you the chance to discover which area sparks your interest most. What you can expect In your first six months, you’ll kick off your journey in our Customer Enquiries Team, where you’ll learn the ropes of engaging with customers and handling their enquiries. This is the perfect starting point to get to know our customers, products, and processes. After that, you’ll spend some time on the road supporting our Sales Managers with lead generation and even have the chance to work in one of our local branches, shadowing a Financial Advisor to see what the role is all about. Just a heads up – there’ll be ad-hoc travel involved during the first year Throughout the scheme, you’ll also gain experience in various departments to get a feel for the Financial Services strategy. In your final year, you’ll step into the role of a Non-Advised Sales Consultant, reaching out to NFU Mutual customers to discuss our Financial Services offerings. This fast-paced role will sharpen your sales skills and deepen your product knowledge—a fantastic foundation if you’re looking to become a Financial Advisor. Alongside this, you’ll also be given the opportunity to take on some project work, such as supporting our Agency Network with upcoming changes, whether that’s regulatory, systems, or processes. Plus, you’ll receive support as you work towards your Diploma in Financial Planning, ensuring you’re fully equipped for your career ahead. Your future Throughout the scheme, you’ll strengthen your core insurance skills, earn CII qualifications, and develop essential competencies to set you up for a successful career. You'll be fully supported along the way, with a dedicated buddy and mentor, plus a strong network of current and former graduates. As you near the end of the scheme, a careers coach will be there to guide you in planning your next steps. It’s not all about work either. We encourage our graduates to get involved in extracurricular activities, from volunteering and organising charity or social events to representing NFU Mutual at industry events, all in line with our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework. Application process If your application is shortlisted, you’ll be invited to complete an online assessment designed to measure your potential for success, such as your ability to learn and solve problems. The following stage is a short video interview, and the final stage will be an in-person assessment centre, where you’ll participate in a variety of activities, including a group exercise, a role-specific exercise, and a skills-based interview. These will be taking place end of November / early December. What we're looking for Qualifications and skills Our entry requirement for this scheme is for you to have obtained, or be working towards, a minimum degree classification of 2.2. You don’t need a degree in a particular area - we’re interested in your passion for learning, curiosity and your potential. You’ll need to be someone who can thrive in a target-driven environment, approaching work with a positive attitude. For our Financial Service Advisory schemes, we’ll also be looking out for: Your ability to build strong relationships Strong communication and active listening skills Adaptability and resilience Teamwork and collaboration Effective time management and organisational skills Self-management and initiative If you’re able to bring these, we can teach you the rest regardless of what degree you studied. Work experience If you’ve gained industry experience or completed a placement year during your degree, that’s fantastic But don’t worry if you haven’t – it’s not a requirement for the scheme. What we do ask for is some previous work experience where you’ve had the opportunity to interact with people.
