Post title: Quality Section Manager
Division: Quality Department
Reporting to: Senior Quality Manager
Post Definition/Purpose:
The post holder will support the Senior Quality Manager for the delivery of Quality operations at our Ebbw Vale & Tredegar based facilities. The post holder will be responsible for the management of the Quality team, liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure best class Quality and the delivery of the overall business Quality objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To provide strong leadership and develop a culture of defect prevention.
2. To lead operational Quality Engineers and Technicians in ensuring controls are routinely applied and regularly audited ensuring best class levels of Quality Control.
3. To lead the operational application of concern management, this includes using problem solving techniques such as 8D, 5Y and Ishikawa & providing feedback to customers.
4. Complete regular Quality reviews with our customers to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
5. To manage countermeasure implementation and countermeasure confirmation audits.
6. To provide concern analysis and develop improvement action plans.
7. To lead, encourage and support continuous improvement projects and activities, targeted to achieve excellent levels of right first time, scrap and rework.
8. To manage schedules of both destructive & non-destructive testing. This includes CMM and macroscopic welding testing.
9. To support with Quality elements of new product introduction.
10. To identify and manage the training needs for the Quality department.
11. Promote a culture of working safely by always working in a safe manner complying with company Health & Safety and environmental standards.
Skills, Qualifications & Abilities:
1. HNC in Engineering related discipline an advantage.
2. Experience in using Quality tools and techniques such as, 8D analysis, 5Y, Ishikawa & Poka Yoke etc.
3. A working knowledge of PPAP elements such as PFMEA & control plans an advantage.
4. Working knowledge of Quality Systems (IATF 16949 & ISO 9001), customer specific requirements and customer APQP systems.
5. Good interpersonal and organisation skills with a close attention to detail.
6. Ability to motivate and drive the Quality team.
7. Excellent time and attendance record.
8. Able to manage own time and priorities.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. 5 years’ experience in Senior Quality role.
2. Experience in automotive manufacturing would be an advantage.
3. Experience of working to deadlines and targets.
4. Good written and verbal communication skills.
5. Demonstrate a positive attitude and motivation to deliver.
6. Proven team building skills.
7. Proficiency in all MS Office packages including Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
