POSITION: Operations Team Lead

LOCATION: London
Purpose of the Job:
* Manage the operational activities
* Work closely with the Operations Team Leaders and Head of Underwriting Operations to identify opportunities for further automation and improved efficiency of all partner-related processes and assist in their development/implementation
* Work closely with partners on query resolution and ensuring data/reports are as expected
Principal Accountabilities:
Team Leadership:
* Work with the Partner-focused Digital Underwriting Assistants and Operations Team Leaders to develop and monitor performance metrics for individuals and the team
* Assist with the professional development of the team (around 5 FTEs)
* Assist with the recruitment and selection of the team
* Set objectives for the team and manage their progression towards these
* Help to establish consistent processes for Digital Underwriting Assistants and help embed this process across Underwriting Operations
* Manage and respond to escalations from the team regarding the use of systems in the underwriting process
Operations:
* Maintain and monitor the flow of work between Underwriting Operations and partners to ensure items and issues are addressed in a timely and accurate manner
* Co-ordinate and lead general meetings with their partners and any ad hoc workshops
* Assist with the investigation and resolution of any data quality issues that are raised
* Identify root causes of issues and implement appropriate remedial action including training of new and existing staff
* Identify and help implement opportunities for streamlining and improving/automating processes
* Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and User Guides are created, maintained and accurately reflect current procedures
* Assist with the co-ordination, testing and roll out of projects and new IT initiatives
* Act as a central point
* of expertise regarding core systems and how the data capture flows through to reporting

Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Strong Operations experience within the Lloyd’s Market
* Sound knowledge of general, commercial insurance practices
* Keen to identify and embrace new technologies and ways of working
* Commercial awareness, with a knowledge of the insurance market and external changes which would impact on their business
* Good knowledge of regulatory and legal compliance issues
* Effective prioritisation and organisational skills
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
* Excellent numeric and analytical skills
