We have an exciting full-time opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the team at our client's private psychiatric hospital in Cheadle.
The hospital offers a comprehensive range of inpatient mental health services for both young people and adults and aims to help individuals live their best lives in a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment.
You will be working as part of a motivated and experienced Multi-Disciplinary Team on a 15-bed acute mental health ward for adult males and females, offering 24-hour admissions to support local NHS services and PICU wards.
The MDT comprises a Responsible Clinician, Specialty Doctor, Ward Manager, Occupational Therapist, Nursing Team, and Psychology Team, all working together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients.
This is a full-time position where you will provide psychiatric care to inpatients on the ward while also offering clinical leadership to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
You will have the support of a full-time Specialty Doctor or Advanced Practitioner and will collaborate with a comprehensive multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical:
Serve as the Consultant Psychiatrist and Responsible Clinician as part of the MDT.
Oversee patient care and treatment plans in coordination with the MDT.
Conduct timely assessments of referrals alongside the MDT.
Perform comprehensive assessments and develop treatment plans with patients, external stakeholders, and carers.
Chair MDT/CPA meetings and adhere to admission and discharge policies.
Ensure timely discharge notifications and summaries are sent to GPs.
Contribute to unit governance through expertise and leadership.
Prepare and supervise reports for Mental Health Act Review Tribunals and Managers' Hearings, providing evidence during these meetings.
Participate in a non-resident second on-call rota, no more than 1 in 7.
Management:
Provide clinical leadership in partnership with the Ward Manager.
Ensure the ward complies with organisational and regulatory standards.
Attend ward governance meetings alongside the Ward Manager.
Support quality improvement initiatives (QPIs).
Attend monthly governance meetings.
Academic:
Participate in monthly academic meetings.
Present case studies and contribute to teaching.
Engage in audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
Post Requirements:
MBBS or equivalent medical degree and MRCPsych with s12/AC approval.
Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
In-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and their respective Codes of Practice.
Commitment to continuous professional development.
Experience in inpatient acute mental health settings is highly desirable.
Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
