Main duties of the job
This is a full-time permanent position. For the preceptorship role, there will be a structured framework to acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience required to progress to Band 8a once competencies have been met. The post will provide an excellent opportunity to contribute to our growing and innovative neuropsychology department while working as part of a friendly and supportive team.

What you'll be doing:
1. Provide specialist neuropsychological assessment and intervention for inpatients with neurological conditions (such as head injury, cerebral tumours and stroke).
2. Develop, implement and monitor the effectiveness of rehabilitation and condition management programmes for patients with neuropsychological disorders.
3. Undertake assessment of capacity for individual patients and provide advice to other health professionals on psychological aspects of capacity assessment.
4. Develop, implement and monitor formal psychological intervention plans for a patient's emotional difficulties.
5. Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual patients.
6. Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other health professionals.
7. Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, formulation and clinical interventions with patients.
8. Provide appropriate verbal and written symptom management advice to patients, their families or carers.
9. Maintain and promulgate the highest standards of clinical record keeping.
10. Keep people safe from any harm and protect their human rights.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* HCPC registration.
* Enrolled or interested in post-doctoral training in Clinical Neuropsychology.
Experience
* Experience of clinical practice within a neurological service setting at a pre or post-qualification level.
* Band 8a candidates will require experience in carrying out and interpreting neuropsychological assessments.
* Well-developed communication skills and the ability to effectively deliver complex and/or clinically sensitive information.
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.
