As a Senior Technical Manager, your day might begin by collaborating with project teams to ensure Peabody’s design and technical standards are upheld. You could be leading the conversation at a governance meeting, providing expert opinion on areas such as sustainability, building services, or building performance evaluation. And later, you might engage with industry partners to explore innovative materials and systems or lead research initiatives to benchmark and refine Peabody’s approach to design, undertaking whole lifecycle options appraisals and comparing industry best practices.

As a Senior Technical Manager, you’ll lead on driving the creation, implementation, and evolution of Peabody’s design standards, strategies, and procedures. You will play a vital role in delivering safe, sustainable, inclusive, desirable, and viable homes for Peabody’s residents, leading on technical design, navigating regulatory and societal change, and responding to business objectives.
You’ll lead the continuous improvement of design briefs by evolving standards and processes with robust change control, providing technical expertise in alignment with Peabody’s vision. You’ll foster innovation by engaging with industry partners and conducting research to drive whole life decisions. Managing design personnel, you’ll ensure excellent design quality, mitigate risks, and enhance team performance. Additionally, you’ll lead benchmarking efforts to evolve Peabody’s standards, input into design review forums, and guide project briefs to align with cost plans and qualitative priorities. By conducting audits and evaluating design derogations, you’ll safeguard overall project quality while championing strategic objectives such as Peabody’s evolving Development Sustainability Framework.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
* A chartered or registered status as a construction professional with a background in engineering, architecture or another related discipline, with a proven record of achievements and value-added contributions.
* A strong appreciation for detail and its impact on overall design quality, coupled with the ability to clearly articulate design implications in terms of cost, time, risk, and opportunity.
* An inquisitive and strategic mindset – challenging yourself and others to find innovative and accurate solutions to complex situations – with the ability to provide comprehensible directions and step-by-step guidance to those who need it.
* Excellent leadership to inspire and motivate a team of highly qualified professionals while driving strategic goals., with a collaborative and confident approach, balancing consensus-building with decisive action to achieve business outcomes.
