Senior Computational Modeling Engineer
The role of Senior Computational Modeling Engineer will lead structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis of commercial roofing systems and their installation.
Job Responsibilities:
* Conduct advanced finite element analysis (FEA) using ABAQUS, ANSYS, or COMSOL to support the design and optimization of roofing membranes, adhesives, and related materials.
* Initiate, develop and validate models to predict the performance of thermoplastic and EPDM rubber-based membranes under various environmental and mechanical conditions.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, product development, and manufacturing to integrate computational modeling into the product development lifecycle.
* Utilize experimental, DOE and statistical analysis techniques to design experiments, analyze data, and optimize material formulations and product designs.
* Investigate and resolve complex engineering problems related to material behavior, structural integrity, and product performance.
* Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders, providing recommendations for product improvements and innovations.
* Stay current with advancements in computational modeling, FEA, and CFD technologies, and apply this knowledge to enhance the company's capabilities.
Job Requirements:
* M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
* Fundamental understanding of polymers, physics, and statistical analysis including DOE.
* 3-5 years of experience with advanced FEA techniques using ABAQUS, ANSYS, or COMSOL.
* 3-5 years of experience with modeling using nonlinear geometry and nonlinear materials including viscoelasticity.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven track record of successful project execution.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is highly desirable.
* Experience with testing methods, test development and test data analysis to make independent conclusions as well as to feed into computational analysis.
Additional Qualifications:
* Experience in the commercial roofing or construction materials industry.
* Familiarity with the mechanical behavior of materials and structural analysis.
* Hands-on experience with material characterization and testing.
* Knowledge of thermoplastic and EPDM rubber materials and their applications in roofing systems.
