Procurement Category Manager
Salary Range: £50-£58k per annum
Proactive Global is currently seeking a Procurement Category Manager for one of our customers based in Slough. Our client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of closure liners and flexible packaging for industries such as food, beverage, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, personal care, household, and industrial applications.
The Position Responsibilities:
1. Assist in developing regional category strategies in alignment with internal stakeholders to drive value throughout.
2. Responsible for executing the agreed upon strategies.
3. Know and help evaluate potential suppliers of each category to assist in developing category.
4. Involvement in the ongoing risk mitigation process of annual rating of suppliers and agreeing on new raw material projects that mitigate the associated risks.
5. Execute the development plans for each key supplier to improve their risk profile.
6. Initiate savings by utilizing various strategies such as volume leverage, supplier concentration, as well as negotiating prices.
7. Foster and maintain collaborative long-term partnerships with suppliers to improve total cost of ownership while reducing costs.
8. Know the entire supply stream (tertiary suppliers).
9. Support the creation, analysis, and reporting of raw material budgets, reforecasts, and PPV.
10. Monitor key raw material markets, understand underlying drivers of those markets.
11. Evaluate supplier performance against pre-determined metrics for OTIF, quality, price, innovation, cost savings, and risk.
12. Ensure all procurement activities are lawful, ethical, and follow Selig Procurement guidelines.
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Purchasing, or Supply Chain Management.
2. Master's (MBA) or postgraduate degree preferred.
3. Professional certifications (CIPS) preferred.
4. 7+ years in Packaging or Packaging related fields.
5. Experience with a Shared Services/centralized sourcing environment.
6. Demonstrated Supplier Relationship Management experience.
7. Knowledge of risk management including contract development.
8. Proven cost optimization track record, including demonstrated negotiation skills.
9. Global/Regional sourcing experience.
Essential Skills and Characteristics Required:
1. Proven negotiation and contract development skills.
2. Effective communication and presentation skills to both internal and external stakeholders.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills and proven team-building abilities.
4. Ability to analyze raw material costs.
5. Experience in implementing an MRP system (ideally SAP) and utilizing Microsoft Office.
6. Change management skills - an attitude/willingness to continuously improve on current processes.
7. Self-motivated, quick learner, organized, and able to multitask.
Location and Relationships:
1. Reports to Director of Procurement.
2. Works with Technology, Operations, Finance, Quality teams.
3. Direct reports: None.
