Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Plymouth
Contract: Full time, temporary with opportunity to become permanent
Salary: £90 - £95 per day
We are actively seeking an empathetic and dedicated SEN teaching assistant to join a supportive special secondary school in Plymouth. This role is perfect for someone passionate about making a positive impact on young people’s lives, especially students requiring additional support due to various educational needs.
About the role:
As a SEN teaching assistant, you’ll be working closely with the SENCO, Teachers and other staff to provide tailored support to students. This involves assistant with personalised learning plans, managing classroom behaviour and helping students overcome educational barriers to achieve their best.
Key responsibilities:
* Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD and other learning difficulties.
* Assist with the implementation and monitoring of Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and other personalised learning tools
* Support classroom activities by adapting materials and managing resources to suit students needs
* Encourage positive learning behaviours and social skills among students
* Work collaboratively with with teaching staff to track progress, report on development and adapt strategies as needed
* Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
Requirements:
* Previous experience in a similar role or working with SEN students in an educational setting
* Understanding of SEN needs and effective support strategies
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Ability to build and maintain a rapport with students, and maintain a positive learning environment
