I'm looking for a Senior Scientist/Mass Spec Scientist to join a Global Biotechnology Research organisation based in Oxford.
They are working to create first-in-class biological therapies to address unmet patient needs in oncology as well as infectious and autoimmune diseases.
Responsibilities
* Identify protein sequences and post-translational modifications.
* Assist in the development of drug substances and products by characterising process intermediates.
* Characterise and identify impurities in drug substances and products.
* Develop characterisation methods for ImmTAX and other products, including peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass analysis.
* Design and execute biochemical characterisations, chemical stability assessments, and comparability studies of biologics and drug products.
* Contribute to the creation of study protocols and reports.
* Independently test and lead lines of investigation.
* Propose new experiments based on emerging data and relevant information.
* Set work priorities for oneself and team-based projects. Make prioritisation decisions based on team, department, and project goals using direct evidence and experience.
* Offer technical guidance on laboratory equipment usage to team members.
* Communicate and present research findings at meetings with colleagues, senior management, and partners.
Key Skills
* Be able to develop HPLC-based peptide mapping methods and characterise recombinant proteins or antibodies using mass spectrometry.
* Conduct glycosylation analysis for recombinant proteins or antibodies.
* Coordinate extensive testing of protein biomolecules independently.
* Characterise proteins expressed in both microbial and mammalian systems.
* Understand post-translational modifications in biological systems.
* Work in a bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory environment.
* Have expertise in one or more of the following areas: electrophoresis, chromatography, mass spectrometry.
* Confident in developing assays and being able to execute related tasks.
* Actively participate and contribute in a diverse team environment.
* Propose and implement changes in working practices to improve efficiency, and support teams during transitions.
