Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that from 1 April 2023, roles requiring PVG membership will require candidates to cover the cost. This applies only to roles with a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above (including teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above, currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour).
The Council will initially pay for the PVG membership (£18 for existing members, £59 for non-members), and this cost will be deducted from the employee’s first full month’s salary.
Job purpose/about the role
To provide financial leadership, professional advice, strategic financial planning, and decision support to the Chief Officer and the Integrated Joint Board (IJB). This includes developing and delivering the IJB’s financial strategy, ensuring governance and value for money, and preparing reports that meet statutory requirements and accurately reflect financial data.
Minimum qualifications:
* Degree-level qualification relevant to the role
* CCAB Qualified Accountant and current membership of a recognized chartered professional body
Key skills and demonstrable abilities:
* Senior financial planning and leadership experience in a large, multi-functional organization
* Strategic planning and business strategy development
* Financial reporting, monitoring, analysis, and evaluation skills
* Ability to influence, persuade, and act confidently in high-profile environments
* Proactive engagement with stakeholders
* Experience with financial systems to improve decision-making
* Developing and delivering comprehensive financial management processes
* High-level analytical and creative problem-solving skills
* Ability to meet deadlines while managing priorities
* Clear communication skills with colleagues and stakeholders
* Strategic thinking and day-to-day issue management
* Managing risks in line with the IJB Risk Appetite Statement
