Job overview
Theatres at County consists of a suite of 7 theatres, a modular unit, and an ambulatory unit covering various specialities. Working days are Monday to Saturday for elective theatres with 24hr cover for anaesthetic support.
We require enthusiastic and flexible Band 5 Theatre Practitioners to join our team at County Hospital. Previous experience in theatres (e.g. Orthopaedics, Vascular, Gynae, and Urology) would be an advantage but not essential. A genuine interest in operating theatres and surgery is required. You will need to be a team player with good communication skills and an ability to adapt to new situations, focusing on providing excellent quality patient care within the Theatre environment.
Main duties of the job
The post will predominantly be based in the Theatre Department at County Hospital, including the modular unit and the ambulatory unit. However, there may be a requirement to work in other clinical areas of the Trust, including the Royal Stoke Hospital.
* Assess patient needs and develop programs of care, implementing and evaluating these programs.
* Carry out all relevant forms of care.
* Provide skilled assistance within the Operating Department environment and continue to develop enhanced surgical, anaesthetic, or recovery skills related to the specialty, commensurate with your level of competence.
* Supervise and educate junior colleagues.
* Act as a role model to students and Clinical Support Workers.
* Take charge of a specific theatre when rostered and assessed to be competent.
* Present a positive, professional image of the organization and the theatre team.

Experience
* Recent acute NHS experience.
* Theatre experience - scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
