Business Support Officer - Finance - Fixed Term
About us
The Business Support Team within Children’s Social Care have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced finance/business support assistant. We are offering a fixed term (12 months), 18.5 Hour, part time Business Support Officer role with an opportunity to assist our Finance Team to deliver a first-class service to the teams, colleagues, children, young people and families we support daily.
The role
Providing a professional, high-quality finance/business support service within the Business Support team. This will include support for a range of different processes and following a variety of procedures but in particular, the role will provide specific procurement and finance support to our Family Network Team. We need you to provide an excellent support service to all our Children's Social Care Teams by assisting the Senior Business Support Officer deliver our finance responsibilities around Family Network Support Packages. These are emergency financial packages for family members and/or friends that may be needed to care for children during a difficult family time when their usual carers can’t. They perhaps just need some support by way of additional funds, goods or services to allow them to do so. Your role will be to help our social workers procure those goods or services as quickly as possible, whilst still following our Procurement guidelines.
There may also be work involving preparing and releasing payment runs, preparing and issuing Petty Cash, making purchases and preparing other Purchase Orders via our procurement system (SAP). You will work as a key part of the team, using initiative and problem-solving to support the service to achieve its objectives, including seeking out responses to queries/undertaking any ad-hoc tasks/pieces of work that come into the shared inbox which may also include support for other wider business support processes. You will be part of a small team of similar post-holders but also part of a wider team with other duties that you may have the opportunity to be involved in, should you wish to grow and develop your knowledge and skills. Hours of Work:
The days are set, but we would consider a shift in the working times. Please be confident you can work this pattern of days before applying as no alternatives can be offered on this occasion due to business need.
Required Experience and Qualities
We are looking for someone with the following experience and qualities:
* Good IT skills with experience in a range of software
* Experience of data-inputting
* Experience of cash-handling
* Experience of procurement
* Excellent team-working skills
* Ability to multi-task and prioritise and organise workload despite interruptions
* Excellent communication skills with a confidence to communicate with colleagues and partners at all levels
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
* Flexible and able to work under pressure
