Key Responsibilities
This role is responsible for supporting the implementation of our Behaviour for Learning Policy. The Behaviour Support Officer will work closely with teachers, students and parents to promote positive behaviour and ensure that all members of our community feel safe and supported.
1. Support the calm and purposeful entrance and exit of students into/out of and around the academy.
2. Ensure students are monitored and supervised before school, during break and throughout lunch.
3. Manage late detentions and follow up action for students failing to meet academy standards.
4. Informally mentor students on Personalised Provision Statements (PSPs).
5. Ensure issues relating to student safety are passed on to academy colleagues for further investigation.
6. Supervise students internally excluded or exited from lessons.
7. Deliver the curriculum offer for students attending the supervision room.
8. Liaise with parents/carers and relevant staff to ensure smooth transition to and from internal exclusion.
9. Be a role model for students in the supervision room.
10. Provide clear expectations of conduct and ensure action is taken when these are not met.
11. Liaise with Heads of House and Assistant Principals to support monitoring of students on behaviour and attendance/punctuality reports.
12. Ensure designated students have up-to-date report cards and completed cards are filled appropriately.
13. Keep records of poor punctuality and organise late detentions.
14. Carry out administrative tasks.
