Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Wye Valley Trust as Deputy Director of Midwifery. We are seeking an exceptional, inspirational and experienced senior midwife to lead the midwifery service. The maternity service has approximately 1,600 births per annum and serves the population of Herefordshire with cross border deliveries from Powys in Mid Wales. The Deputy Director of Midwifery will work to the Director of Midwifery who works across Worcestershire and Herefordshire. The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of services in Herefordshire and will be the site based most senior clinical midwifery leader. The prime focus of the role will be on the day to day delivery of the service, ensuring high standards of care and ensuring the wider midwifery workforce have the required skills, knowledge and competency to deliver safe and effective care. Main duties of the job Be expected to demonstrate a highly visible, authoritative compassionate and transformational leadership style which is underpinned by the values of Wye Valley Trust. Provide senior leadership and strategic direction and take a professional lead role, ensuring delivery of the quality, governance, performance and transformation agendas. The Deputy Director of Midwifery will act as the knowledgeable expert clinical resource promoting the development of evidence-based practice in all areas of responsibility. Provide a direct contribution to the strategic vision for the development of services. Establish strong working relationships with the Maternity and Neonatal voices Partnership and ensure the Voice of our service users is heard with learning incorporated into service improvements.
