Job Purpose / Overview: As a Project Manager, you will report to a Senior Project Manager and oversee the full lifecycle delivery of a contract or work package. You will manage engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities in alignment with the overall project schedule. Your responsibility is to ensure the safe, on-time, on-budget delivery of the project while meeting all safety, quality, and cost requirements.
You will be involved in various aspects of the project, including:
* Road and Rail Facilities
* Power and Communications Systems
* Water Systems (storm, potable, desalination, industrial, and foul network and treatment)
* Buildings and Industrial Facilities (offices, welfare, security, and operational facilities)
* Security Fencing and Access Control
Responsibilities:
* Define the work scope for the contract or work package and establish interfaces with other project elements.
* Secure necessary resources for project requirements, ensuring that resources meet SQEP standards, and address any personnel shortages or issues.
* Develop and execute strategies and plans aligned with the overall Programme Execution Plan (PEP), covering the "why," "what," "how," "when," and "who" for project delivery.
* Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and implement PEP strategies within your area of responsibility.
* Ensure delivery of contract or work package activities, meeting safety, schedule, budget, and technical requirements. Track project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
* Anticipate, manage, and resolve project issues. Identify risks and address them promptly, including updating the budget and escalating issues to the Delivery Manager as needed.
* Ensure development and maintenance of Level 3 schedules, ensuring alignment with overall project schedules (Levels 1 and 2). Escalate discrepancies as necessary.
* Review contractor-supplied Level 3 and 16-week rolling schedules.
* Ensure the List of Deliverables (LOD) for your scope is completed.
* Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement and lessons-learned practices.
* Collaborate with other programs to maintain a high-level view of the overall project and adopt best practices.
* Ensure that contract or package requirements are fully met.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with all project team members.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
* Proven track record in delivering complex projects in dynamic environments, prioritizing safety, security, and environmental responsibility, ideally within the nuclear energy sector or a similar regulated field.
* Experience in managing:
* Engineering design, contract, and field execution strategies.
* Multi-discipline EPCM projects.
* Procurement and management of complex contracts.
* Cost, risk, schedule control, and proficiency in Earned Value Management tools.
* Closeout of commercial claims and associated negotiations.
* Experience engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Strong project, financial, change management, and facilitation skills, with proficiency in estimating, scheduling, programming, and risk management tools.
* Experience managing contractors, consultants, and advisors on large-scale construction projects in regulated environments, including NEC or FIDIC contracts.
* Strong presentation, influencing, and facilitation skills with excellent communication and organizational abilities.
* Strong analytical and numerical skills.
* Detailed understanding of PWR design and experience in PWR operations.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* A degree in engineering, construction, physics, or a related field, with chartered status.
* Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
* Knowledge of and experience in applying Project Management methodologies, such as APM or Prince 2.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Understanding of nuclear quality requirements and how quality is assured and controlled in the nuclear sector.
* Ability to apply a graded approach to quality assurance.
