About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team, working on high-profile data centre construction projects across London. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, technical environment with significant potential for career progression.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in delivering cost-effective and high-quality construction solutions, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
* Cost Management:
o Assist in preparing, monitoring, and managing project budgets.
o Perform cost analysis and provide cost-saving strategies.
* Procurement Support:
o Assist in tender preparation and the procurement of subcontractors, materials, and equipment.
o Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
* Contract Administration:
o Support the preparation of contracts and manage variations, claims, and final accounts.
o Maintain accurate records of valuations, payments, and project costs.
* Risk Management:
o Identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
o Monitor project progress and ensure financial risks are minimized.
* Reporting:
o Assist in preparing detailed financial and progress reports for internal and client stakeholders.
o Provide input for cash flow forecasts and budget reviews.
* Collaboration:
o Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
o Foster relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* 1–3 years of experience in quantity surveying or a similar role, preferably within data centre, MEP, or large-scale construction projects.
* Working knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT, NEC).
* Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, MS Office Suite).
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
