We are currently recruiting a Senior Metrology Officer to work within Trading Standards at Lancashire County Council.
Are you a statutory qualified Metrology specialist with the technical experience and skills to deliver our statutory obligations? Our Metrology Team within the Trading Standards Service is a specialised team working alongside other teams, including food standards, to deliver essential statutory services to a variety of businesses and external stakeholders. Our role is to advise, guide, and encourage legal compliance, with enforcement when necessary, to protect both businesses and consumers within Lancashire.
We are seeking an experienced Metrology expert to professionally advise local businesses on compliance with legal obligations required under the Weights and Measures Act 1985. With your technical expertise, you will make critical judgements to influence and encourage local businesses to comply with their statutory obligations to avoid enforcement. In this challenging role, we require you to influence businesses accordingly to any requirements or recommendations made.
As a methodical and analytical thinker, you will record and analyse metrics, consider timescales, and plan accordingly to gather any data you require. You'll understand the importance of accuracy and attention to detail, reviewing data to inform future projects or produce reports to highlight common themes. In this varied role, you'll assess a wide scope of equipment, including petrol pumps and weighbridges, so we need you to consider each competing priority and plan accordingly to deliver our responsibilities with the support of the technical team. Finally, we'll need you to be curious and inquisitive, able to commercially interpret data to generate income avenues for the team.
As a confident professional, you'll need to communicate with a wide audience of stakeholders, including business owners, customers, senior leaders, and team members. In this challenging role, you may need to have difficult conversations, so your approach will be key. You'll also be an exceptional team player, understanding the importance of listening, guiding, and collaborating with others to achieve the best outcomes for businesses and their customers. If you're ready to uphold the standards of trade we expect, then apply to join our innovative team today.
