Purpose
Responsible for leading the team in charge of managing M&A activities within the Onshore business, you will deliver significant growth targets by expanding the pipeline through acquisitions, including the preparation of offers, coordinating internal approval processes and coordination with internal stakeholders.
Leading the ScottishPower Renewables team through all aspects of sales processes, including due diligence, contract negotiation, completion and approvals, you will also be required to coordinate transaction support activities on behalf of the Iberdrola Corporate Development Team where appropriate.
Developing new business opportunities through joint ventures and other Corporate transactions to support the Onshore pipeline, you will negotiate with external parties, understand and prepare complex structures, ensuring all commercial agreements align with the Onshore business strategy which involves coordination of teams within ScottishPower Renewables and across the various Corporate teams.
Understanding and developing new and diversified transaction structures to support growth of Onshore assets through joint ventures which will vary across different sites and technologies, being tailored for each, you will also contract manage Onshore joint venture agreements, including relationship management, coordinating internal stakeholders and ensuring all obligations are met within contracts.
Through a deep knowledge of Wholesale/Retail Energy markets driving fundamental change to the future value cases for the entire ScottishPower Renewables portfolio, you will hold responsibility for transactional functions including preparation of product offerings, contract negotiations, coordinating internal approval process and coordination with internal stakeholders.
There is also a requirement to maintain a thorough understanding of the physical delivery capabilities, supply demand balances, with detailed understanding of transmission tariffs, operating procedures, and physical capabilities.
Responsibilities
Building and maintaining high-level relationships with developers and competitors, including Advisors and Financiers, as well as Energy Brokers and market aggregators, you will expand the pipeline of opportunities by generating a high-quality network and leads.
Assessing and translating market competition, industry trends, emerging regulatory challenges and changes in the marketplace into market strategies and product offerings, you will be required to develop tactical execution plans for transactions and targets, identify new business opportunities and services for new and existing assets and investments in various Renewable technologies.
With responsibility for negotiating and coordinating new joint venture opportunities, in association with Corporate Development, you will lead the ScottishPower Renewables team through all aspects of sales processes, including due diligence, contract negotiation, completion and approvals.
As the internal and external expert on all issues impacting operational and development assets in relation to energy markets, ancillary services and flexibility opportunities, you will collaborate with policy/regulatory functions to identify and develop new sources of revenue and craft value propositions to optimise operational and development assets whilst being responsible for execution and management of client agreements, including reporting/ relationship management required post-FID.
What you’ll bring
Educated to degree level in relevant field (Business, Accountancy, Economics, Finance) with appropriate professional qualification, you will possess exceptional financial / analytical skills and commercial acumen.
With a detailed understanding of commercial and strategic drivers of the ScottishPower Renewables business with regard to existing and future operations, you will display a sound understanding of energy market fundamentals including wholesale electricity, ancillary and balancing markets.
Appreciating macroeconomic fundamentals/trends in technology affecting investment and growth in UK economy and link back to corporate energy consumptions, you will also understand regulatory frameworks relating to energy markets and financial markets/products in order to optimise product design, ensuring mitigation of potential volatility to ScottishPower Renewables P&L/balance sheet year to year.
Demonstrating your ability to develop new business relationships quickly and to close opportunities, you will also work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing and interfacing effectively with cross-functional internal groups of all levels and competencies.
Ability to perform and interpret financial analysis and provide appropriate data and information, you will possess excellent oral, written communication, presentation, interpersonal, negotiation and time management skills with an ability to create and participate in a team atmosphere by collaborating with internal departments including Project Delivery, Corporate Development, Operations, O&M Services, Energy Management, Policy, Risk & Assurance and Legal in support of sales process.
Creating and participating in a team atmosphere by collaborating with international department and colleagues including, but not limited to, Avangrid Renewables Origination and Retail Structuring teams, Iberdrola Renovables PV & New Technology and Global Services teams, you will support the management of existing PPAs, including requisite renewal process, as well as collaborating to identify international growth opportunities.
