Whitman, Requardt, & Associates (WRA) is currently seeking a full-time entry level Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer in our York, PA office. The I&C Engineer will provide engineering services for the design and programming of industrial instrumentation and control systems in the water and wastewater industry. The applicant will work alongside WRA’s I&C group to provide engineering expertise including system master planning, industrial control system design, LAN and WAN communications, cyber security, and process control system programming for new construction and facility rehabilitation projects.
Responsibilities:
* Work in a collaborative environment to assist senior engineers in the design of I&C systems.
* Prepare control system design drawings such as process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), electrical diagrams, schematic diagrams, loop diagrams and network architecture diagrams.
* Develop written process control narratives.
* Write specifications for control system hardware and equipment.
* Develop automation system input/output lists.
* Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems to support the design of control system hardware.
* Inspect, test and commission control and communications systems in industrial environments.
* Coordinate and review construction submittals and requests for information with control system integrators.
* Design and program PLC based control systems using Allen-Bradly, Modicon, and other PLC based control systems.
* Understand Program Operator Interface (OIT) and HMI graphical programming applications.
* Perform field inspections, testing procedures and commissioning control systems.
* Demonstrate Cyber-Security practices.
* The I&C Engineer will need to be able to travel occasionally (10%) to local area construction sites. Work on site includes performing field investigations and witnessing factory and site acceptance testing.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or related Engineering degree and/or equivalent technology degree.
* 0 - 4 years of relevant experience.
* Strong desire to learn and be trained in electrical and automation systems including instrumentation, controls, and communications.
* Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and develop skills for the design and programming of industrial control systems.
* Strong verbal and written communications skills.
* Ability to work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, and Teams.
* Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
* Willingness to obtain EIT & PE certifications.
* U.S. citizenship required.
