About the role This is an exciting time to join the Student Counselling and Mental Health Advice Service at Imperial College We have been investing heavily in our Service to better support our students through university life. We have grown from a small team to a diverse and multifaceted group of over thirty professionals striving to deliver the best experience possible for our students. The Senior Counsellor is a key role within the Student Counselling and Mental Health Advice Service, sharing responsibility for the day-to-day clinical practice of the counselling team. In collaboration other senior practitioners, and the Head and Deputy Head, you will play a vital role in supporting counselling provision and good practice, ensuring that we are providing a robust and responsive service to students. You will join a strong team of senior clinicians at the service, of which three are senior counsellors, and have particular responsibility for the development and service delivery of innovative courses and groups relevant to the student population. What you would be doing Supervision & line management of student counsellors and supporting their development Managing and monitoring the clinical workflow of the service as well as evaluating and improving service delivery Containing and managing risk as necessary, including sharing duty across the working week with other senior practitioners Supporting the development and delivery of a bespoke suite of courses, therapeutic groups and workshops What we are looking for A qualified and experienced counsellor/psychotherapist/counselling psychologist or equivalent with supervision and line management experience A commitment to and belief in a brief, focused approach to counselling within an HE context A flexible and collaborative clinician with a commitment both to high-quality provision and staff well-being Ability to manage and contain risk and to support those working with clients in crisis A passion for the power of groups and experience in developing, delivering and evaluating groupwork, workshops and courses for students What we can offer you Be part of a senior team leading on change and continual growth of the service.
