Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join Diageo’s team at Cameronbridge. This role is vital in leading and optimising the performance of our Bio-Energy plant, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, service, and cost, in line with our balanced business scorecard. The successful candidate will sponsor Tier 2 and lead Tier 3 initiatives, steering the department towards best-in-class results while promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Performance Leadership: Lead Bio-Energy plant operations to uphold the highest standards in health, safety, environmental, and quality metrics, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
* Balanced Scorecard Management: Drive performance across the balanced scorecard by coordinating and developing departmental resources, actively leading problem-solving, and improving processes to meet targets.
* MMS Programme Leadership: Champion the Manufacturing Management System (MMS) Programme to elevate standards, capabilities, and asset care, partnering closely with the Manufacturing Excellence Manager to exceed balanced scorecard targets.
* Strategic Coaching and Leadership: Offer strategic guidance, coaching, and support to direct reports and their teams, fostering a culture of accountability, empowerment, and continuous improvement.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with the Business Development Manager, Site Engineering Manager, and Manufacturing Excellence Manager to align departmental strategies and objectives.
* Resource and Budget Management: Handle the Bio-Energy R&M budget, evaluate equipment capacity and people needs, and develop long-term budgetary and capital plans aligned with Diageo’s 2030 sustainability goals.
* Active Shop Floor Presence: Spend 50% of time on the shop floor, ensuring standards are consistently met and finding opportunities for improvement.
Key Accountabilities:
* Standards and Compliance Leadership: Own the deployment of MMS practices at Tiers 2 and 3, allocating resources to achieve departmental critical metrics, including spent wash, steam export, biogas production, and RO water targets.
* Ensure adherence to Diageo’s asset care systems to maintain and improve asset quality and reliability.
Performance Optimisation and Problem-Solving:
* Respond promptly to issues, drive accountability, and coach team members to identify and address underperformance.
* Cultivate a culture of ownership and systemic problem-solving through the use of tools such as root cause analysis (5 Whys, DMAIC).
Change and Continuous Improvement:
* Role model effective change management, presenting a compelling vision for the future.
* Empower team members through performance coaching, P4G conversations, and personal development plans, holding them accountable for the same with their teams.
What You’ll Bring:
* Demonstrable experience in leading high-performing teams within an engineering environment, with a solid understanding of bioenergy processes and regulatory standards.
* Proven capabilities in performance management, strategic coaching, and driving continuous improvement.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to foster a culture of accountability and ownership.
* Collaborative skills to build strong working relationships with internal and external partners across departments.
